The Peoples Democratic Party has slammed an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Femi Fani-Kayode, for portraying the ruling party’s vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, as a godly man.
In a recent appearance, the former aviation minister, who is a staunch supporter of APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, referred to Shettima as a refined godly man ready to help the country.
However, the PDP’s Spokesperson for the Presidential Campaign Management Committee, Senator Dino Melaye, said in a statement issued on Saturday that Shettima was preparing to help his “Bandits’ Empire” rather than Nigeria.
Dino, who recently labeled Shettima as a terrorist grand commander, urged Fani-Kayode to learn how to remain silent on certain issues.
“The noisome pest, Femi Fani-Kayode, characteristic of his style to harvest opportunity in the possible feasting that Kashim Shettima might possess, has again demonstrated his shallow and tepid understanding of the dignity of silence,” the statement reads.
“He has most likely never heard the Biblical admonition in Proverbs 17:28, which states, ‘Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent; with their mouths shut, they appear intelligent.'” Femi Fani Kayode would have been better off pretending to be wise. There is no penalty for such self-evaluation.
“It is absurd for Femi Fani Kayode to claim, for lack of substance, that Shettima is a refined, decent, and godly man who wishes to help his country.”
“The country in context must be a reference to the Bandits’ Empire; otherwise, how could a godly man harbor Kabiru Sokoto, who bombed worshippers on Christmas Day in December 2013 at St Theresa’s Catholic Church in Madala on the outskirts of Abuja?” It follows that for godly people like Shettima, hell is their paradise.
“What a sardonic humour to also award Shettima the undeserved honor of a Nigerian helper?” Where can I find a record of that service? Shettima was nowhere to be found when the Chibok girls were led into Sambisa Forest. Attempting to compare the unlike to the like in this manner is a heinous deception by the indecent.
