Mr. Iyin Aboyeji, co-founder of the business hub, Flutterwave, has canceled his Twitter account after allegations of fraud and money laundering by Assets Recovery Agency of Kenya.

Following Kenyan authorities’ alarm that bank accounts linked to Flutterwave had been blocked, Iyin cancels his Twitter handle shortly.

Our correspondent says it looks that he may have given in to pressure from the widely shared David Hundeyin investigation report.

Recall that a Nigerian journalist named Hundeyin issued an investigation report on Flutterwave’s suspected involvement in different questionable personal and professional behaviors in April 2022.

The co-founders of Flutterwave were charged with impersonation, insider trading, and other inappropriate conduct in workplace, which led to the release of the report, which was replete with alarming pieces of evidence.

Shortly after the report was published, Aboyeji, broke silence by distancing himself from different allegations brought against the company he founded in 2016.

Aboyeji denied knowing about the inglorious acts and sexual maltreatment staged against Gbenga Agboola, a co-founder and current CEO of the company. He asserted that the report was a big hit on his repute, adding that he would file a legal suit against Hundeyin over the alleged ‘libellous publication’.

“The attack on my reputation and livelihood by a purveyor of yellow journalism pursuing a mission of personal vendetta is surprising and regrettable but not unexpected. Success does have its price. As the author has subsequently admitted – this article does not implicate me in any wrongdoing, but he only maliciously slandered me because, according to him, we don’t like each other,” he posted in a number of tweets.

As expressed by him: “I am grateful for the opportunity to clear my name from such a grave accusation. As promised, I will be following up with necessary steps on appropriate legal action against the libellous publication and its enabler.”

Following the negative trail online, Iyin allegedly deactivated his Twitter account but reactions trail it.

In this report, Mohammed Oluwatimileyin Taoheed, writes about the reactions to the development. Read below:

Twitter user, identified as @IamTheIroko tweeted in Pidgin English: “David Hundeyin don drive Iyin to go deactivate Twitter Acconunt. David you do this one oh.”

While, @General_Oluchi wrote: Iyin’s account no longer exist. Man has deactivated and skipped down. Ya Kpotuba.

Yet another tweep wrote with some wild laugh emojis: “It is no wonder Iyin was trying to explain his support for Tinubu saying Labour Party was anti-tech. Man was just positioning so he can help launder money.”
