Show Proof That Court Has Ordered EFCC To Recover Money From Okorocha – Aide

The media aide to former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, Sam Onwuemeodo has challenged those spreading rumours that the court has ordered his principal to give up some money and property to show proof of their claims.

Onwuemeodo in a statement on Tuesday declared that no court at any level has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to recover anything from Okorocha.

He said this in reaction to claims in certain quarters that the EFCC has been ordered by the court to recover some 33 stolen properties and looted funds from the former Imo Governor.

However, Onwuemeodo declared there is no truth in the rumour, arguing that if truly any such court order like that exists, then the EFCC won’t have had to invite his principal for questioning again.

His statement reads in part: “No court in the land, both within and outside, whether magistrate court, or customary court , or state high court, or federal high court, or appeal court or Supreme Court, had ordered EFCC to recover even a pin from Okorocha.

“The same EFCC they had talked about was the same commission that invited Okorocha on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, and allowed him to go on Thursday, April 15, 2021.

“Those behind the gimmicks could not reason to the extent of knowing that if the court at any level ordered EFCC to recover all that they had listed from Okorocha, the commission would not have invited him for questioning.

“And now that we have expressly denied or stated that, no court in the land, at any level, had ordered or asked the EFCC to recover the items from Okorocha, the burden or onus has now fallen on them, to show evidence or proof of their claims.”

Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has told the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Dr. Isa Pantami to immediately resign his appointment.

The Governor lamented that in saner climes, Pantami would have been sacked but the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government is known to always shield its members with questionable characters.

Wike spoke on Tuesday amidst the controversies surrounding allegations that Pantami has links with terrorist organizations including Boko Haram and others.

Reacting to the allegations, Wike was quoted by his Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri to have declared on Tuesday during an interview with AIT that the best solution is for Pantami to resign.
