SILGA VICE CHAIRMAN LAUDS SMOOTH CONDUCT OF PDP LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA CONGRESS.

TRACKING_____Hon. Evang. Parkins Ogede, the vice chairman of Local Government Area, has expressed satisfaction over the massive turnout and smooth conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Local Government congress held today, Sunday 22 March, 2020 in Oporoma headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.Speaking shortly after the exercise was concluded, the vice chairman who represented the executive chairman Hon. Nigeria Kia Said, having observed the process and judging by laid out procedures, guidelines and rules, the council helmsman, lauded party faithful for their response and peaceful conduct throughout the exercise.He adjudged the congress as very peaceful and organized, saying the turnout was impressive as well as encouraging, noting that the PDP has always been the party of the Southern Ijaw people while also asserting that the party is evidently in a class of its own in the state.Addressing the newly elected excos, the obviously delighted council chairman, thanked the leadership of the party at the various levels, the congress organizing committee, stakeholders, delegates and all party stalwarts for the rancour-free, peaceful and well-coordinated congress, stating that the success of the Local Government congress is an indication that the forthcoming state and National congresses will be very peaceful and credible.He promised to support and work very closely with the new local government party authority to consolidate the party and forge a new frontier in governance and participatory grassroot democracy. At the end of the transparent and peacefully conducted congress, Hon. Ikoro Wellabo emerged as Chairman, and Theophious Douebi was announced as deputy chairman, amongst others.The process was well supervised by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and monitored by security operatives of the Nigeria Police and Civil Defense.
