Sokoto approves over N20bn contracts, releases N6.2bn mobilisation

TRACKING____Not less than N6.2 billion has been released by the Sokoto State Government to six contracting companies as 30% mobilisation for execution of over N20bn urban renewal projects within the state capital.

The signing of the contract documents was sealed on Monday before the companies representatives.

Among those awarded the contracts with various completion dates include: CCECC, AFDIN, Calder Construction Company, K&E, Solid Stone and SSTC .

The projects sealed for execution include: two flyovers at Runjin Sambo and Rijiyar Dorowa areas, dualisation of Tashar Illela- More as well the construction of Sokoto state University Teaching Hospital.

Others are the dualisation of Maituta road, Waziri Abbas road and construction of a premier hospital at Sabon Birni respectively .

While signing the agreements for the governor, the state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Suleiman Usman( SAN ) described the step as a show of commitment and determination by the Tambuwal led government to ensure transformation of the state through the execution of such projects.

He noted upon completion, the projects would add value to and advance the economy of the state as well ease the challenges of traffic especially in the capital.

” It will encourage safety by reducing rate of accidents as well beautify the city”, he added.

Suleiman, while acknowledging efforts of the Ministries handling the projects processes, commended them for supporting the course to reality for the benefit of people in the state.

He further charged the contractors on ensuring effective supervision for quality work and timely completion according to specifications.

The CEO of CCECC, Mr Eric Shen, who spoke on behalf of other contractors thanked the State Government for finding them worthy for execution of the projects.

He assured of quality and timely completion according to specification.
