Saheed Olatunji, a 44-year-old man, has been arraigned at the Ikeja Chief Magistrate Court on Friday for allegedly defrauding a woman of N400,000 over spiritual help.

Mr. Olatunji was charged to court by the Police for obtaining money under false pretense and stealing.

However, Olatunji pleaded not guilty to the charge.

ASP Benson Emuerhi, the prosecuting counsel, informed the court that the defender obtained N400,000 from Florence Sanwo under the disguise that he would give her spiritual solutions to her problems, knowing fully well that he can’t.

He further established the fact that Mr. Olatunji committed the offense on October 15, 2020, at the Abule-Egba area of Lagos.

The prosecuting counsel also told the court the offender, Mr. Olatunji, damaged a Ford Galaxy car worth N3.5 million, which belong to the complainant.

Emuerhi added that the offense contravened sections 287,350 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos.

Magistrate J. A Adegun presiding over the case granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned for further hearing until February 22.
