Champions League: Chelsea midfielder in race against time to face Real Madrid
Chelsea midfielder, Mateo Kovacic, is desperate to convince manager Thomas Tuchel that he can play a part in their UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
Kovacic has been in a race against time to recover from a hamstring problem, having suffered a setback in training las week.
The club’s medical staff are assessing his progress, before making a final decision on whether to include him in the matchday squad.
Toni Rudiger is expected to play, despite suffering a facial injury in the first leg.
The German centre back has been training in a protective mask ahead of the match at Stamford Bridge.
