EPL: Mason Mount heading out of Stamford after talks broke down with Chelsea
Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount could be on his way out of the club after talks of a new contract broke down.
The England international is increasingly likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer with 18 months left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge.
Although the academy product made clear his preference to remain at the club, he wants his £80,000-a-week salary to rise to around £240,000-a-week which would reflect his status as a first-team star.
However, after splashing close to £600m since Todd Boehly’s takeover last summer, Chelsea are walking a Financial Fair Play tightrope.
The Blues have put the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez on long-term contracts to get around the UEFA guidelines and Mount wants to stand among the highest paid players at the club.
And as Daily Mail reports, talks have broken down between the two parties after he rejected Chelsea’s last offer.
It points towards a summer exit for Mount, who has attracted interest from Liverpool and West Ham.
