EPL: You’re not as good as you think – Agbonlahor slams Chelsea star for demanding £300k weekly
Former Aston Villa striker, Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount over the player’s new wage demand at Stamford Bridge.
Agbonlaghor said the Englishman should carry out a reality check, insisting he is not as good as he thinks and should be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge if he so wishes.
The 24-year-old, who used to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League has struggled this season, scoring just three goals and contributing six assists in 31 games across competitions for the Blues.
Mount earns about £80,000 in his current deal which expires in the summer of 2024 and is now in talks with the club for a new deal, but is making a demand of around £300,000 weekly.
Agbonlahor, one of Aston Villa’s finest strikers during his playing days, is surprised that the player is making such a demand at a time when his performance has dropped, saying he needs to tell himself the truth.
“This season Mason Mount has not done anywhere near enough to demand that kind of money. He should be having a wage decrease rather than an increase,” he told Football Insider.
“He has not done enough for me. Mason Mount isn’t in Chelsea’s best XI. I feel he needs a reality check, to be honest.”
