Gallas names club to win Premier League title
Former Chelsea defender, William Gallas, has said that Arsenal will win the 2022-23 Premier League title majorly because of the World Cup in Qatar.
Going into the World, Arsenal are top of the Premier League table with 12 win out of their 14 games.
They are also five points ahead of champions, Manchester City, after the first half of the season.
Club football returns on Boxing Day with the Gunners hosting West Ham at the Emirates.
“I think the World Cup can help Arsenal win the title,” Gallas told Genting Casino.
“If you compare Arsenal and Manchester City, Arsenal have ten players that are going to the World Cup and of those ten players, maybe four of them will start for their international teams.
“Manchester City have sixteen players going – practically all of their first team will be there – and nine or ten of those will start every game for their country.
Gallas said that no one knows how the players will feel after the Qatari tournament but insisted that Mikel Arteta’s side stand a better chance of lifting the trophy.
The last time the Gunners won the Premier League was in the 2003-04 season under Arsene Wenger.
In doing so, Arsenal made history, becoming the first club in the English top-flight to complete a full season without losing a single game
