Jay Jay Okocha reports on Senegal’s well-deserved World Cup victory, Africa’s first in Qatar.
Former Super Eagles captain Austin Jay Jay Okocha praised Senegal after their 3-1 victory over Qatar in their second Group A game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Friday.
Boulaye Dia, Famara Diedhiou, and Bamba Dieng scored for the Teranga Lions, who defeated the host nation.
The Netherlands defeated Senegal 2-0 in their first game of the tournament.
Following the Netherlands’ 1-1 tie with Ecuador, the group is now wide open, meaning that any of the three teams, Senegal, Ecuador, or Holland, could advance to the next round.
“Finally, we’ve won our first World Cup as Africans.” “It was a well-deserved win,” Okocha told SuperSport.
“They had a bit of a hiccup after conceding that goal, but I think they controlled the match and were fortunate to come up against Qatar, who I believe does not have enough to punish these Senegalese teams when they make mistakes.”
“Congratulations to Senegal on their first victory.”
