National Youth Games: Delta aims for victory – Oghenesivbe
As the 8th edition of the National Youth Games kicks off on Thursday, September 12, in Asaba, Delta State, the Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has called on Deltans to come out in large numbers to support their state team.
Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, Oghenesivbe praised the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for providing the necessary resources and support to boost the morale of the state’s contingent.
He expressed confidence that Delta would retain its title as overall winners, urging participants and officials to make the most of the opportunity to make new friends and enjoy their stay.
Oghenesivbe assured visiting officials and team members that they would receive the best hospitality, citing the state’s reputation for warmth and generosity.
He noted that Governor Oborevwori is youth-friendly and committed to ensuring a successful event.
“Delta is ready to host the 8th edition of the youth national games.
“We welcome our guests and visitors. Our athletes are the best, and as current national champions, they will emerge again as overall winners.”
The games will take place from September 12 to 19, featuring over 5,000 athletes from across Nigeria. The main venue will be the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.”
