Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali expresses love for South Africa despite alleged threats
Following Nigeria’s victory over South Africa in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final, Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has broken his silence on social media.
In a closely contested match that ended in a penalty shootout, Nwabali’s standout performance played a crucial role in securing Nigeria’s spot in the finals.
Amid concerns former Nigerian goalkeeper Idah Peterside raised about alleged threats directed at Nwabali by South African fans, the 27-year-old shot-stopper took to social media to share his thoughts on the match and extend a message of love to both Nigerian and South African fans.

In his social media post, Nwabali expressed his deep passion for the game and emphasized his enduring affection for South Africa, where he plays club football.
He wrote, “This is a game I’m born to play. A night to remember!!! I felt every bit of it!!! Brick by brick and dreams are coming true. No love lost at all. I still love South Africa as much as their fans love me, and I love this team with all my heart.”
