French professional footballer who plays as a defender for West Ham, Kurt Zouma is due to appear in court for maltreating his cat two months ago.

Tracknews recalls that Zouma was slammed with sanctions and also lost endorsements in February this year after a video of him kicking the friendly animal surfaced on the internet.

The viral video clip was posted on social media by Zouma’s brother, Yoan.

West Ham condemned the act and immediately slammed the 27-year-old player a fine of £250,000.

Zouma had apologized for his actions and immediately accepted the fine, but requested that the Premier League club donate the money to animal welfare charities.

The player is, however, due to appear before Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on May 24 after being prosecuted under the Animal Welfare Act.

The RSPCA had announced their intention last month to bring a prosecution against Zouma for treating his pet badly.

Tracknews understands that despite sanctions, Zouma has been allowed to continue playing football.

He’s missed just one Premier League game since the incident came to light which is when he was apparently too ill to play against Leicester on 13 February.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s defensive line has suffered a major setback ahead of the club’s UEFA Champions League semi-final tie with Manchester City next week Tuesday.

Tracknews understands that David Alaba will miss out on Madrid’s next game against Pep Guardiola’s men.

The 29-year-old was said to have sustained a hamstring injury against Osasuna in a LaLiga tie on Wednesday night.

Tracknews understands that the Austrian football star picked up the injury in the latter stages of the 3-1 victory against Osasuna at El Sadar.
