Afropop Diva, Yemi Alade has joined the likes of Falz and Simi to give her Candid opinion about the Nigerian government.

Amidst the protest, Yemi took to Instagram to criticize the present administration for the nonsensical policies they have cunningly implemented.

She took her followers on a history tour by recounting the Circumstances that led to Democracy Day #June12 celebration. She stated that The celebration was to commemorate MKO Abiola’s Free and Fair election in 1993.

Yemi Alade disclosed that Nigeria hasn’t experienced an election like that and that’s why Nigerians are suffering with no help from The Federal Government.

She brutally slammed the FG for not setting their priorities right. She dragged them for focusing on banning social media while innocent protesters are out threatened whilst protesting for a better government.

Yemi Alade in her emotional post also consoled families who couldn’t afford a square meal and families who lost everything to kidnappers.

Her post reads;

‘“Democracy Day is June 12, a national public (bank) holiday in Nigeria. … These were done to commemorate the democratic election of MKO Abiola on June 12, 1993, in what has been adjudged to be Nigeria’s freest and fairest elections.” -Google

But on this day June 12, 2021, social media bans are silencing the youth of a democratic nation and protesters that only want to dialogue for a better standard of living are beaten, arrested, threatened and living in fear in a crashing economy that crumbles and burns the poorest amongst us.

My heart goes to The family that can’t afford one meal a day ,the families that have lost so much to kidnappers, the families that have lost their businesses in this Economy.

I pray that someday we will stop and think of the generational repercussion of trading human life and peace of mind for Egotistic and selfish gains.

Social Media offers A great space to interact with people on a global scale but sometimes it can be a distraction when reality is abandoned.’
