Strengthening the Legacy: GSS ODI Alumni Seek Support to Empower Future Generations

The Government Secondary School (GSS) Odi Alumni Association has made a passionate call to its members and stakeholders to support the empowerment of the future generation of students. According to Dr. Ebikisei Stanley Udisi, Chairman of the association, the alumni body recognizes the importance of giving back to their alma mater and society.

In a statement, Udisi reflected on the great responsibility that lies before the alumni association – to shape the future of young minds and empower them to become leaders in their respective fields. He envisioned the students growing up to become accomplished personalities like Senator Douye Diri, Rear Admiral Yanga, Brig. General Eric Angaye, Professor Ebimieowei Etebu, Prof Beke Sese, Ken Etete, Hon. Warman Ogoriba, RT Honourable Tonye Isenah, Tupere Bruno, Collins Boleigha, Hon. Justice David Opokuma, Igbaseimokumo Usiakeme, and Zuoboemi Agadah.

Udisi also acknowledged the selfless contributions of their mentors, who played a pivotal role in shaping their academic consciousness and future. He expressed gratitude to notable personalities like Subi, Aganaba, Abalaba, Tulagha, Akanga, P.W Ogoina, Briggs, the Teiboweis, Trueman Abiama, Raphael August, Kakatei, Okpoka, Professor WAL Izonfuo, Igbaseimokumo USIAKEME, Justice Nayai Aganaba, Barrister Preye Agedah, Elder T.K. Ogoriba, Engr Gesi Asamaowei, Durban Whyte, and many others.

The alumni association has engaged the government of Bayelsa State and other stakeholders in the educational sector to achieve its objective. The governor has directed plans to build more befitting physical structures for the school, improve the conditions of existing ones, and provide for the welfare of staff.

The association is calling on all alumni members to give their support to make their alma mater better. The forthcoming ‘Founders’ Day activities promise to be a warm reunion amongst alumni members, with intellectually engaging conversations and a launch for funds to build an alumni secretariat.

Udisi urged alumni members to participate in the Founders’ Day celebrations and make a positive impact on the lives of the young students. “Let us come together to give our kids a future better than ours,” he said.
