the striker tested positive for the
Coronavirus on Wednesday Completesports.com reports.

Onuachu became the first high-profile Nigerian football player to test positive for Coronavirus following his return to his Belgian club, KRC Genk’s pre-season training.

The Nigeria international tested positive at his club base in Belgium and has gone into two-week quarantine , according to reports by Het Laaste Niuews.

Onuachu who made his Eagles debut last year and went to the 2019 AFCON, only recently returned to Genk after accompanying Victor Osimhen to his father’s burial in Nigeria.

The verified Twitter handle of the Super Eagles posted: “Fight on our own @paulebere. Be strong, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Get well quick. #soarsupereagles.”

Onuachu joined The Smurfs from FC Midtjylland last year and in his debut season, the lanky striker netted ten times and provided two assists in 29 games across all competitions.

He was the only Genk player who tested positive for COVID19 as the club conducted tests in preparation for their first preseason game on Thursday which was eventually cancelled.
