Leicester City defender, Ashleigh Plumptre believes the Super Falcons can make a significant impact at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Super Falcons have attended all editions of the competition and are among the 32 countries that will compete for honours in Australia and New Zealand this summer.

The nine-time African champions will face co-hosts Australia, Olympic champions Canada and the Republic of Ireland in a competitive Group B.

Randy Waldrum’s ladies are currently in Antalya, Turkey, where they set up camp as part of their preparations for the competition.

The West Africans defeated Haiti 2-1 in a friendly last Friday.

The Super Falcons will engage New Zealand in another friendly on Tuesday.

“Obviously we’ve got our eyes set on the summer but right now we’re trying to just put little details into practice and make sure that come the summer the team is ready to perform,” Plumptre told NFF TV.

“Yeah we know we’re obviously against really good competition, we definitely can’t look past that. Pressure is on the likes of Canada and Australia and I know we have some amazing talent in this team, so we’re definitely going to put in some good performances and I think we can cause some couple of upsets.”
