Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has again reinstated his resolve to deal decisively with any of his appointees that think he can work against his choice of who succeeds him as the Governor of Benue State

Governor Ortom Made his stand known on Monday 25th April 2022 in an elaborate meeting with Government functionaries at the new banquet hall of the Benue state government house in Makurdi. The visibly angry governor lampooned his appointees for criticizing the PDP consensus candidate Titus Uba both in private and on social media platforms.

The Governor Said, he is surprised that his appointees who should be defending his choice are not defending instead they are keeping quiet, giving the opposition room to run down the choice of the party.

Governor Ortom further said, he is advising those who are not comfortable with his choice to either resign or risked being sacked if found to violet his instructions.

Recall that, the PDP under the leadership of the governor last week endorsed the speaker of the Benue state house of assembly, Rt. Honorable Titus Uba is the consensus candidate from the fourteen Tiv-speaking areas to face the state deputy governor Benson Abounu in the primaries.

As it stands, it seems the Governor has made up his mind to field Titus Uba as the only candidate of the PDP.

Uba’s choice has been criticized by PDP stakeholders and members with other aspirants vowing to go into the primary elections, this seems to be the reason for today’s meeting which prompted the governor to address his appointees.

As of the time of filing this report, over 7 aggrieved aspirants have purchased PDP nomination forms to contest against the governor’s choice in the primaries in May some of which include, the state deputy governor, Benson Abounu, former commissioner for education, Dennis Itayvar, a member of the Benue state house of assembly, Dominic Ucha, Paul Angya, Mrs. Terry Waya, and former Chief of staff to Governor Ortom, Terwase Orbunde.
