The minister of state for Petroleum resources Timipre Sylva has described the Federal Government’s 774,000 Job scheme as an applaudable intervention in line with President Buhari’s job creation and human capacity empowerment drive.

Sylva, who was represented by his Technical Assistant on Niger Delta/Unions, Barr. Oyanbo Owei at the program’s flag-off in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state on Thursday, also lauded President Buhari’s frequent stimulation of the nation’s economy and the clear trajectory of a more engaged, more empowered populace.

‘This is another example that we have a president who is passionate about the well being of Nigerians, we have a president keen about human capacity development and ultimately, we have a president who is flipping the poverty ratio of the country swiftly, lifting millions of Nigerians out of poverty with steady, deliberate initiatives such as this’

The interventionist scheme, approved in 2019, is designed to draw 1,000 skilled and unskilled Nigerians from each of the 774 local government areas across the federation and engage them in productive, sustainable ventures.

The Federal Government Extended Public Work Scheme was declared open by Barr Oyanbo on behalf of H. E Timipre Sylva, and the program begins in Bayelsa with an initial 8,000 successful applicants, a thousand for each Local government of the state.

The flag-of had the Bayelsa state coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment, Mr Ahamefule Osuchukwu, in attendance along with other key stakeholders in the state.
