TRACKING>>Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal yesterday commissioned the Nyesom Wike Academic Building at the Pamo University of Medical Sciences (PUM), a specialised medical university owned by former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili.

While commissioning the building, Tambuwal commended the Rivers State Governor for his commitment to the infrastructural development of the state, and for his administration’s investment and support for the university.

Tambuwal, who noted that the university would go a long way in boosting the grooming of quality medical professionals, said: “We thank the Rivers State Governor for his support to this very important university founded by Dr. Peter Odili. This support is clear and we are happy over it.”

The governor offered prayer to God to grant Governor Wike the wisdom to continue to administer a complex state such as Rivers.

At the commissioning was the former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd); Adamawa State Governor, Umaru Fintiri; Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed; founder of PUMs and former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili; the wife of Niger State Governor, Hajia Amina Bello, and representatives of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige.

In his remarks, Odili said the occasion marked the opening of PUMs Administrative Block, and thanked Governor Wike for his determined efforts and contributions towards the growth of the institution.

He said: “Due to the support of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, the university has been able to surmount the challenges of development, leading to construction of the Nyesom Wike Academic Building.”

Odili, however, noted that the Nyesom Wike Academic Building has four lecture halls, 36 offices for staff and four ultra-modern laboratories for clinical courses.
