According to a news that was published by the Leadership paper Online this morning, it was reported that while some governors of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had hoped their party will win the presidential election, but the defeat of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, at the February 25, 2023, has left them with low job prospects in government.

Due to this development, Leadership reported that when their correspondent contacted one of the aides to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, of Sokoto State, over the plans of his boss when he leaves office in May, the aide retorted that, May 29, is still far away.

It was reported that the aide,.who spoke under the condition of anonymity on the ground that, he does not have the authority or directive to speak on behalf of the governor, queried Leadership paper correspondent, if he had already written off Governor Tambuwal’s senatorial aspiration, when it is yet to be finalized.

He said, “Tambuwal is still the leading candidate for Sokoto South (senatorial election), don’t be in haste to ask for his plans. You are very much aware of that. He is the leading candidate for the Sokoto South senatorial districts seat. The supplementary election will be concluded on April 15 and April 15 precede May 29, therefore, I will advise you not to be in haste except you are privy to the outcome of the next weekend election.”
