“On behalf of His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State, I wish to announce the passing away of Mr. Dauda Maikomo, Permanent Secretary of Abuja Liaison Office, whose sad event occurred on 11th June, 2025, following a brief illness,” Dr. Kara stated.
Dr. Kara praised the late permanent secretary’s service and commitment to the development of Taraba State. He described Maikomo as a dedicated and visionary public servant whose contributions had a significant impact on the administrative functions of the state government.
“His leadership, vision, and commitment will be deeply missed,” he said. The Head of Service also extended condolences to the late official’s family, friends, and colleagues, emphasizing that the government shares in their grief and loss.
The statement noted that Maikomo had served the Taraba State Government with distinction and was widely respected in civil service circles. As Permanent Secretary of the Abuja Liaison Office, he played a key role in facilitating communication and coordination between the Taraba State Government and federal authorities in Abuja.
Dr. Kara added that plans are underway to honor Maikomo with a state burial. The final arrangements for the burial will be determined in consultation with the deceased’s family, who are expected to provide guidance on the date and logistics of the ceremony.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time,” the Head of Service said. “May his legacy continue to inspire us.”
He concluded the statement with a prayer for comfort, saying, “May the good Lord comfort all of us.”
At the time of his death, Maikomo was actively serving in his position and was regarded as one of the senior civil servants in the state’s liaison operations in the capital. His passing is considered a significant loss to the Taraba State civil service, particularly at a time when the government is implementing various reforms and strengthening intergovernmental collaboration.
There has been no official word yet from his immediate family. However, tributes have begun to pour in from colleagues and state officials who remember him as a humble and effective administrator.
Maikomo’s death adds to the list of recent losses among senior public servants in Nigeria, prompting further reflection on the health and welfare of civil servants who often work under immense pressure.
Taraba State authorities have promised to continue honoring his memory and contributions through institutional recognition and the proper conduct of burial proceedings. More details are expected in the coming days as the family and the state government finalize arrangements.
