Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a controversial Islamic cleric and Kaduna-based preacher, has lamented the country’s lack of social justice.
Gumi stated that the lack of justice in the country has resulted in a large number of out-of-school children and a poor population.
He made the remarks on Monday at a peace-building symposium in Maiduguri, Borno state’s capital, as part of efforts to reintegrate former Boko Haram insurgents into society.
Gumi stated that the country’s power structure has crumbled, allowing jobless youths to be recruited as bandits, terrorists, and thugs.
The nation’s justice system, according to the controversial Islamic scholar, is weak, and the fabric of power is fraying.
“Whoever has any interest in our country, we have made soldiers available for him to conscript,” he said.
“So, why do we deny our children an education?” Why isn’t education available to everyone? Why do we leave our people in poverty?
“Some Nigerians fly on private jets, while others don’t know where to enroll their children in school.” There is social inequality. If you go to court, you will not find justice.
“The fabric of power has been ripped apart.” As a result, the children are available for use by anyone.”
