A Former Federal Permanent Secretary and foremost Niger Delta leader Ambassador Dr. Goodknows Boladei Igali has indicated that along with friends and family members of Late. General Andrew Owoye Azazi this six edition of late. General Owoye Azazi Memorial Choral Concert will hold at the GABRIELGABRIEL OKARAOKARA CULTURAL CENTRE, YENAGOAYENAGOA, ON SUNDAYNDAY, 16TH DECEMBERDECEMBER, 2018.
TrackNews recalled that on December 15h 2012 General Andrew Owoye Azazi was among the Six persons that were killed when a naval helicopter in which they were travelling crashed and burst into flames in the forest of Okoroba, Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, shortly after take-off. Among those dead in the crash were the Governor of Kaduna State, Patrick Yakowa and four other persons on board the ill-fated helicopter were the orderly to Azazi, Warrant Officer Kamal Mohammed; a prominent politician from Kaduna, Dauda Psokho; the pilot, identified as Commander Muritala Mohammed Daba; and co-pilot, Lt Col. Adeyemi O. Sowole. The helicopter, a Navy Agusta, with number NN07, crashed and immediately burst into flame at about 3:30p.m.
In an interaction with His Excellency, Ambassador Dr. Igali, one of Niger Delta leaders philanthropist stated, that this year memorial Choral concert of General Andrew Owoye Azazi will holldld in Yenagoa. In the past Ambassador Igali and few friends along with Azazi family always held memorial concert in his honour in Abuja. Ambassador Igali stated that, this year edition which is six years after the passing of General Azazi will hold in Yenagoa in other to allow the people of the state to also able appreciate this our great son who passed on. The past editions of the memorial concert choirs came from various parts of the county then art exhibition held also from mostly female artists from the Niger Delta region in a way of encouraging the girl child. The 2018 edition of General owoye Azazi memorial Choral concert will hold in Yenagoa unlike on the past when organized the events in Abuja.
He stated the hope that Bayelsans will come in the large number to honour this great son of the state who halled from Peretorugbene in Ekeremor local government area of Bayelsa state. Ambassador Igali also stated that choirs from all parts of the country will be participating in the 6th edition include, The Bayelsa Classic Choirs, Port -Harcourt Male Ensemble, Exquisite Choic (P), Bayelsa Restoration Choirs, others are, Timi Sheller-Okara, Tariah Amabraba, Frank The Tenor (Abuja), and Selected voices of Akwa-Ibom.
