The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barr. Osima held an inaugural meeting yesterday with Permanent Secretary, and principal officers of the ministry.

TRACKING > The Commissioner who was also a former Commissioner for urban development during the administration of the former Government in 2011, stated that its second missionary journey is to move the ministry forward and write the wrongs that has been in place as well as bringing to bear the vision and mission of His Excellency Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike CON the Executive Governor of Rivers State, particularly to ensure that building approvals go through the right process and monitor same from foundation to finish level, to ensure compliance.

He further stated that he will not seat in his office to allow developers to build and later demolish, he will regularly monitor approved buildings from foundation to see if there is divation of the approved plan.

He called on Rivers people to avoid quacks in the field who will come to collect money from them after contravening. He advised them to approach the ministry for any form of transaction to ensure that all monies are paid to the account of Rivers State Govt and not individual account.
He also advised those illegal operators in the field collecting monies from building owners to desit forthwith, else if caught they will be dealt with at the appropriate security agencies.

He stated that one of the problem that led to the collapsed of building was illegal development, saying if the ministry approves a 3 story building and building owner went ahead to build 5 stories, he stressed that the ministry will monitor from beginning to finish stage as to avoid further collapse cases in the state.
