The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to recruit five million police officers to combat insecurity in Nigeria.

The monarch expressed concern about the country’s deteriorating security in a statement signed by his media aide Alli Ibrahim on Sunday, urging the President to declare the country a police state to strengthen security.

He also urged the government to create a digitalized data base and a means of identification for Nigerians in order to improve effective policing, claiming that doing so would encourage security to question anyone on Nigerian soil who did not have identification.

“Increased personnel and funding can strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture,” it says. As Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammed Buhari should consider recruiting approximately 5 million capable men into the Nigerian Police and increasing the monthly salary of security operatives.

“Despite having a population of at least 250 million people, Nigeria has a police force of less than 300,000 people.” President Muhammed Buhari should hire 5 million cops to turn Nigeria into a police state.

“The government must also improve our data base and provide electronic devices that will allow police to access individual information regardless of location.” The requirement to carry your ID card must be strictly enforced. As a result, criminals and bandits will have a harder time avoiding us.

“I implore the government to devise a strategy to carry out the admonition in Nigeria’s and her people’s best interests.”
