There is no rift between President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima — APC.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed speculations about a rift between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, stating that their relationship remains strong and focused on governance. The party issued this clarification following reports suggesting tensions between the two leaders.
APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, released a statement emphasizing that Tinubu and Shettima continue to work harmoniously in implementing the administration’s policies. He described the rumors as baseless and aimed at creating unnecessary political distractions. According to Morka, there is no division within the presidency, and both leaders are committed to fulfilling their electoral promises to Nigerians.
The speculation about a possible rift emerged from unverified claims circulating in political circles and on social media. Some reports suggested that Shettima was being sidelined in key government decisions, leading to tensions within the presidency. However, the APC has firmly denied these claims, stating that such narratives are being pushed by those who want to create instability within the government.
Morka stressed that Tinubu and Shettima have a shared vision for Nigeria’s progress and are working closely to implement economic reforms, tackle insecurity, and improve the welfare of citizens. He urged the public to disregard misinformation and focus on the administration’s ongoing efforts to address national challenges.
Since assuming office in May 2023, Tinubu and Shettima have presented a united front in addressing economic and political issues. The vice president has actively participated in various government initiatives, including international engagements and economic policy discussions. Despite occasional political speculations, both leaders have consistently maintained that their partnership remains intact.
Political analysts believe that rumors of internal conflicts are common in Nigerian politics, where opposition figures and interest groups sometimes spread narratives to create uncertainty. However, APC leaders insist that Tinubu and Shettima’s working relationship remains solid, with no signs of discord affecting governance.
The presidency has also dismissed concerns about Shettima’s level of involvement in decision-making, highlighting his key roles in several initiatives, including leading efforts to attract foreign investments and overseeing economic development programs. Officials argue that these responsibilities demonstrate the trust and cooperation between Tinubu and his deputy.
In response to the controversy, some APC chieftains have accused political opponents of trying to sow division within the ruling party. They argue that the administration’s focus should remain on delivering good governance rather than engaging in baseless speculations.
Observers note that the administration has faced significant challenges, including economic reforms that have led to public debates. Some critics have used these issues to suggest internal disagreements, but government officials insist that policy decisions are made collectively and with the best interests of Nigerians in mind.
As the Tinubu administration continues its second year in office, political tensions and speculations are expected to persist. However, the APC maintains that the relationship between the president and vice president remains strong and that both leaders are committed to their shared vision for national development.
