Before the 2023 presidential election, Ohanaeze Ndigbo stated that it was the turn of the South-East to produce a president from the region, as they alleged that the region has been marginalized. They said for justice, fairness and equity to prevail, then a president from Southeast extraction should emerge in the 2023 presidential election.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Edozie Njoku has stated that the South-East cannot produce a president without the region first having an understanding with other zones in the country.
