Karim Benzema has insisted he wants to retire at Real Madrid and there is “no other option”.

The 34-year-old was on Monday named the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner.

It came after a campaign where Benzema scored 44 goals for the champions of LaLiga and Champions League.

When asked about his future plans after landing the Ballon d’Or, Benzema told Onda Cero: “I’m going to retire at Real Madrid, there’s no other option.”

Benzema’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023.

However, the Frenchman is in talks with Madrid over fresh terms.
