Adebayo Shittu, Director General of Asiwaju Tinubu Presidential Campaign Organisation, has justified the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.
According to Tracknews , the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, chose former Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

Following the decision, a number of individuals, political stakeholders, and organizations have chastised Tinubu, a Muslim, for selecting another Muslim as his vice presidential candidate.

Shittu claimed in an interview with Track News on Tuesday that Tinubu was correct to choose Shettima as his running mate and should not be punished for it.

The APC chieftain claimed that the South West is dominated by Muslims, and that his claim was founded on facts.

According to the former Minister of Communications, the uproar over the Muslim-Muslim ticket was motivated by religion rather than competence.

Shittu stated that people in Ekiti, Ondo, and Edo States are not making a fuss about the Christian-Christian ticket, urging Nigerians to disregard religious sentiment.

“In the South-West of Nigeria, Muslims account for an average of 65 percent of the population,” he said.

“People are making a fuss about the so-called Muslim-Muslim ticket on religious grounds.”

“It’s a Christian-Christian ticket in Ekiti.” It is a Christian-Christian ticket in Ondo. In Edo, where the northern part of the state is predominantly Muslim, the ticket is Christian-Christian. Nobody is making a fuss about it.”

Shittu also commented on the APC’s loss in the governorship election in Osun State, saying that the defeat of the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola, was a huge disappointment.

The former minister also stated that the loss was not unexpected given the number of factors that contributed to the development.

“The Osun incident was a major letdown.” However, some of us were not surprised, and I regret saying this.

“A lot of factors must have played a role in what happened,” he said.
