The Tinubu Continuity Network (TCN) has appointed Bayelsa-based politician and philanthropist, Mr. Robert Desmond, as its Zonal Coordinator for the South-South region. The appointment was officially conveyed in a letter dated September 8, 2025, and signed by the group’s National Coordinator, Hon. Usman Ali Maitsidau.
Mr. Desmond, who is popularly known by his political moniker “D New Face,” is a prominent stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State. The letter emphasized that his new role is expected to further strengthen grassroots mobilization and political outreach across the oil-rich South-South region.
The correspondence from Hon. Maitsidau stated that Mr. Desmond’s duties and responsibilities will be guided by the constitution of the organization. It also expressed confidence that the appointment would inspire him to intensify efforts in promoting the network’s vision and consolidating its achievements.
Party supporters in the South-South have welcomed the development, noting that Mr. Desmond has a track record of engaging with communities and mobilizing support at the grassroots level. Many believe that his reputation as a philanthropist and his deep-rooted connections within the APC structure will enhance his ability to carry out the responsibilities of his new position effectively.
As Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Desmond is tasked with coordinating activities of the TCN across the six states in the South-South geopolitical zone. His mandate includes galvanizing support for President Tinubu, strengthening party cohesion, and driving the network’s initiatives in line with its constitutional framework.

It focuses on sustaining public confidence in his administration and ensuring broad-based support for the APC at both state and national levels. With the South-South being a region traditionally dominated by opposition parties, Mr. Desmond’s role is considered crucial in consolidating the APC’s presence in the area.
Political observers note that his appointment comes at a strategic time, as the party seeks to deepen its influence ahead of future elections. Strengthening the TCN’s operations in the South-South is viewed as essential to securing broader political backing for Tinubu’s administration and the APC.
Mr. Desmond’s career has been marked by consistent involvement in grassroots politics, where he has built a reputation for accessibility and strong community ties. His philanthropic activities, particularly in Bayelsa, have also earned him recognition among local residents. Supporters believe these qualities will aid him in carrying out the delicate task of expanding the TCN’s reach and fostering unity within the APC in the region.
The letter of appointment concluded by urging Mr. Desmond to approach the position with dedication and to remain steadfast in promoting the ideals of the Tinubu Continuity Network. His leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in aligning South-South supporters with the goals of President Tinubu’s administration, thereby reinforcing the party’s standing in the region.
