Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno State, has described Senator Kashim Shettima’s selection as the APC’s Vice Presidential candidate as the wisest choice made by the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed, Tracks News reports.
Zulum stated this in a statement he personally signed, the details of which were released from Maiduguri via his media office.
Zulum’s full statement is below:
“Earlier today, I received with great joy the announcement of my mentor, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, as our party’s Vice Presidential candidate and, insha’Allah, the next Vice President of the Federal Republic under His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our incoming President, Bi’iznillah.” My deepest wish is that HE Kashim Shettima receives the recognition he so richly deserves as one of Nigeria’s most patriotic leaders.
“For me, and I am sure for many other APC leaders and members, Tinubu’s choice of HE Kashim Shettima is the best choice at this time.”
“Shettima’s choice is very personal to me, and together with our leaders and all stakeholders and APC members, we will campaign vigorously and work day and night to collectively secure the APC’s overwhelming victory in 2023, insha’Allah.”
“There is no doubt that HE Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has chosen a leader who has a thorough understanding of our country and its complexities.” Senator Kashim Shettima knows almost every tribe in Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. He is familiar with the social, cultural, religious, economic, and political structures of all 36 states and the FCT.”
“Shettima is a staunch patriot. He firmly believes in the unity of this country, as he has demonstrated on numerous occasions.”
