Today’s Aboki Rate: US Dollar to Naira Black Market Rates

According to Bureau De Change sources, the exchange rate for a dollar to naira at Lagos Parallel Market (Black Market) players on Sunday, August 7, 2022 will be N630 to N680. (BDC).

Remember that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognize the parallel market (black market) and has advised individuals interested in Forex to contact their respective banks.

The Federal Government will earn approximately N160.46 billion in excise duty on phone calls and mobile data in 2023.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) estimates that implementing the government’s 5% excise duty on telecom services will generate N160.46 billion.

The NCC also revealed that GSM, Fixed Wired, and Internet Service Providers’ combined revenue in 2021 would be N3.21 trillion.

The N160.46 billion is based on the telcos’ revenue remaining constant. However, depending on the state of the economy in 2022, it could be higher or lower in real terms.

The Federal Government recently announced a plan to levy a 5% excise duty on telecommunications services in the country.

This was revealed during a stakeholders’ forum on the implementation of excise duty on telecommunications services in Nigeria by Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning.

The excise duty was implemented to increase government revenue, according to Ahmed, who spoke through the Ministry’s Assistant Chief Officer, Frank Oshanipin.
