Comrade Tombra Allen has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of President in the forthcoming Southern Ijaw Federated Youth Council (SIFYC) election. He completed this step by picking up the official Nomination and Expression of Interest form, a move that places him among the contenders for the leadership of the council.
The election is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in Korokorosei, a community within the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The event is expected to bring together delegates and representatives from across the region, as the SIFYC prepares to decide its next set of leaders.
The Electoral Committee overseeing the process has confirmed Allen’s formal entry into the race. The committee is chaired by Osunu G. Henry, with Gbeinbo Kemegheworighe Gbeinbo serving as Secretary and Oumatebe Foster Kurotimi functioning as the Public Relations Officer.
According to the committee, all candidates will be required to undergo a transparent and fair process leading up to the election date. The leadership of the committee emphasized its commitment to upholding the credibility of the council’s electoral process.
Allen’s declaration adds momentum to preparations for the election, which is widely regarded as an important opportunity for young people in Southern Ijaw to choose representatives who will shape the council’s direction in the coming years.
With his nomination now confirmed, attention turns to how candidates, including Allen, will engage the youth population in the campaign period leading up to September. The SIFYC election is expected to draw keen interest from stakeholders across the community, given the role the council plays in youth representation and advocacy.
