Tottenham Chairman, Daniel Levy has reached a decision over the future of manager Jose Mourinho after Spurs’ 3-1 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, according to Voetbal 24.

The report says that the club hierarchy has decided to keep the Portuguese for next season simply because it will cost too much to sack him.

The Portuguese, who took over from Mauricio Pochettino in 2019, is currently under significant pressure at the club following a series of poor performances by the team.

Tottenham were beaten convincingly by Manchester United on Sunday afternoon making their chances of finishing top this season slimmer.

Spurs still have the League Cup final to play which could be the only source of silverware this season.

It has previously been reported that Levy will sack Mourinho if the Portuguese fails to qualify the team for Champions League.

However, the report claims that Tottenham have configured it would be too expensive to sack Mourinho at this stage.

Levy reportedly failed to negotiate a break clause in the former Chelsea boss’s bumper contract when he put pen to paper with the club.

Sacking the former Real Madrid and Internet Milan boss means that Spurs would have to fork out a whopping ÂŁ34.8million.

The figure also includes payments to his backroom staff, who would also be set to follow him out of the door.

Pochettino, who was sacked in November 2019, was receiving his pay off from the club until a few months ago.
