The Governor of River State, Dr Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, is to be awarded by TrackNews as the Best Performing governor in Nigeria during the last seven years.
The management of TrackNews Media Limited and its publisher took this decision during their board meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, 29th July 2022.
Mr Mohammed Oluwatimileyin Taoheed, media assistant to Hon. Ogidi Ben Bara, CEO of TrackNews, briefed newsmen that, “the choice of Dr Nyesom Wike was reached after a careful examination of the developmental achievements of all the current 36 governors in the country.”
The reason for creating the award, according to Mr Ogidi, is to recognize excellence in public service. He explained that this was the first time the budding media platform was given the award to an elected public office, and that the recipients are going to be people who have shown excellence and selflessness.
As part of the celebration of the maiden Best Governor Award, the news platform would also air a documentary on the developmental achievements and infrastructural projects built during Dr Nyesom Wike’s 7 years in office.
Ezenwo Nyesom Wike was born in 1960 in Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor, Raters State. He was trained as a lawyer at the prestigious Rivers State University of Science and Technology. Wike has served in various capacities at the state and federal levels. He is currently serving a second term as Governor of Rivers State.
