TRACKING___Arsenal is moving closer to finalize the discussions for a last gasp loan move for former Arsenal midfielder, Santi Cazorla,
Santi Cazorla who sign for arsenal in 2012 spent six years at Arsenal Football Club before leaving for Villarreal last season after the expiration of his contract.
The midfielder had in December 2019 made a plea to Arsenal to give him one more chance, he told The Independent’s Tom Kershaw of his desire to return to the Gunners someday is getting closer after discussion has been put in place.
He said: “When you are at a big club like Arsenal, sometimes you don’t realise what it means to be there until you are gone. And this is the case with me as I never got to say a proper goodbye. It was the biggest team I played for in my career, and I miss everything about Arsenal.”
“I don’t know what my legacy is there, you would have to ask the fans, but I want to say thank you to them all. I would like to play at the Emirates one last time before I retire.”
Despite an injury ravaged career in North London in which he had 8 surgeries on his ankle and almost lost a foot after an infection turned gangrenous, Cazorla still became a fans favourite for his creativity and technique.
Cazorla played just 31 games across the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons in the Premier League and did not play at all in the last year of his deal till his left arsenal. He currently has 5 goals and 4 assists for Villarreal, prompting a recall back to the Spanish team.
