The Nigeria Population Commission NPC, on Thursday, in Katsina State flagged-off the Post Enumeration Survey (PES) for the trial census conducted in July 2023 in the state.

The NPC Federal Commissioner for Katsina State, Engr Bala Almu Banye at the flag-off in Daura on Thursday, said the exercise will last from 22 October 2022 to 2nd November 2022.

Banye said the PES is one of the measures adopted by the NPC to check the accuracy of the trial census conducted in July 2022 and it will enable the commission to determine how many were missed, counted twice, included by mistake or counted in the wrong place.

Banye also noted that a new set of enumerators will be used for the conduct of the PES in 15 Enumeration Areas selected from three wards (Mazoji B, Madobi B and Ubandawaki B) in Daura LGA.

Banye listed the 15 EAs for the PES as: Mai Unguwa Magaji Yahaya, Masallacin Mallam Isa Abba, Dispensary Danheji, Ungwan Malan Haru Tela, Maigari Garba Darugawa, Umaru Mai Shinkafa, Ahmad Usman Kango, Daura LGEA Veterinary Clinic Ibrahim Tayo, Bature Hamisu Mai Unguwa Wuchike, Migari Bello Sule Binga Primary School, Aminu New Era and General Hospital Daura.

The Katsina NPC Commissioner appealed to Nigerians to join the Commission in bequeathing a demographic data that will be used to navigate the country through the myriad of challenges confronting her today. He also noted that the country’s population remains the greatest asset in national development and must be harnessed to make life worth living for our people
