Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has lauded the Flamingos after the team finished in third position at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.

The Flamingos defeated Germany 3-2 on penalties on Sunday afternoon to win bronze in the biennial competition.

Bankole Olowookere’s side led 3-0 in the game but the Europeans fought back to level scores at 3-3.

The game went into penalties with Nigeria outscoring Germany 3-2.

It was Nigeria’s best ever finish in the history of the competition.

Peseiro took to the social media to celebrate the girls on the remarkable achievement.

“Congratulations to the Flamingos, who won the bronze medal in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in a penalty shootout against Germany,” Peseiro tweeted.

“The future of women’s football in Nigeria is bright. Congratulations to all the players, staff and directors for this notable achievement!
