No fewer than thirty-two students and staff of the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri in Kebbi state are still in bandit’s den after four months of their abduction.

It was reported last week that bandits have released the victims, reports, however, reaching Naija News at this time confirmed that they were held back as the mediators could not meet with the kingpin.

Recall that gunmen had attacked the school four months ago, overpowered security men on guard at the school located in the remote community in Kebbi State and kidnapped no fewer than 90 students and staff.

Two students and two teachers of the school were on Sunday, October 17, reportedly rescued from the forests and received by security personnel and medics stationed at Kotonkoro town.

Reports emerging this morning confirmed that 28 students and two teachers have now been released and arrived in Kotonkoro around 8:30 pm on Wednesday.

They were reportedly released on Wednesday, October 20, by a notorious bandit identified as Dogo Gide.

“From Kotonkoro, they will be taken to Kontagora, before they are transported tomorrow (this morning) to Birnin Kebbi,” Daily Post quoted a source as saying.

Another source however told the publication that the freed students and teachers might likely be brought to Minna, the Niger State capital, and then to Abuja before they would be taken to the Kebbi State capital.

The kingpin behind the recent release, Dogo Gide is said to have gone on another mission when mediators travelled to retrieve the students in the first efforts.
