TRACKING>The scheming for who emerges the next Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly has intensified following the emergence of Senator Hope Uzodinma as the duly elected governor of the state.

Our correspondent learnt that four lawmakers, Authur Egwim(Ideato North), Obinna Okwara(Nkwerre), Chyna Iwuanyanwu(Nwangele) and Nelson Ezerioha( Oru west) are in a race to emerge the next Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.

The four lawmakers had advanced their campaigns in the camp of the new governor, it was learnt.

In line with the zoning arrangement in the House, it was gathered that the position of the deputy speaker will now go to Orlu zone with the new governor’s emergence and that of the majority leader will now go to Owerri zone.

A source said, “Four lawmakers from Orlu zone are jostling to emerge the next Deputy Speaker of the Imo state house of Assembly. They have advanced their ambitions and are poaching the allies of the new governor. The slot of the majority leader will now go to Owerri zone. This is the arrangement in the Assembly. ”

The Assembly will on Tuesday, January 21 reconvene following a one month Christmas and new year break.
