Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has reshuffled his cabinet and appointed seventeen new commissioners.

Tracknews Online reports that Uzodinma made the appointment seven months after 20 of his commissioners, Special Advisers and Senior Special Advisers were sacked.

Following the sack, the governor has since been running the affairs of the state with eight commissioners that were retained.

But during Monday’s plenary, Speaker of the Imo state Assembly, Rt Hon. Kennedy Ibeh, announced that Governor Uzodinma has forwarded seventeen commissioner-nominees to the assembly for screening.

The speaker said the commissioner nominees would appear before the house for screening on Tuesday 23, 2021.

He listed the names of the commissioner nominees as: Prof. Duru Emmanuel, Simon Ebegbulem, Dr Prosper Ohyagha Success Obinna Chinonso, Prof. Ifunanya Okorodudu, Prof. C.O Nwosu, Keziechi Ogaziechi, Barr. Rex Anunobi, Lady Love Ineh, Rubby Emele.

Others are Anukwuem Okechukwu Chukwunyere, Chief Ford Ozurumba, Stanly Obidiegwu, Rt. Hon. Good luck Nana Opiah, Mrs Ann Dozie, Prof. Kenneth Kenneth Amaechi (Chief Economic Adviser) Elias Emedom and Hauia Rabiu Ibrahim.

In other news, the Presidency has said President Muhammadu Buhari would not receive the reports of the states’ judicial panels on police brutality and extrajudicial killings.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Buhari’s media aide, Femi Adesina, stated that the president would only act on the report submitted by various state governments.

According to Adesina, the reports by the states’ panels won’t be submitted straight to the Federal Government.

He said, “Not to the Federal Government. Under the law, Federal Government has no power to en-panel a probe by the states.

“What would happen is that when the state comes up with pronouncements on that panel reports, that would then be of interest to the Federal Government; it is not as if they would bring it to the Federal Government.”

The presidential spokesperson said the federal government would only act and address areas of interest in the report, reminding Nigerians that 36 policemen were killed around the country during the EndSARS protests last year and the perpetrators must be prosecuted.
