**” Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity “. ( Eccl. 1:2 ).

Everything in the world; the wealth, the power, the affluence and prestige, all is vanity. From dust we came, and to dust we must return. This bitter truth should be embedded, in the tablets of our hearts, everyday of our life.

If we fail to accept this truth, we may lead unfruitful lives, and may not be remembered for anything good, in times to come. As the family of Ex- Governor of Oyo State, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi said their final goodbye, to their beloved father on Sunday 28th June 2020, there is one lesson to learn from this, and that is; All is vanity!!!

Ajimobi Abiola was born on 16th December, 1949 to the Ajimobi family of Ibadan, at Oja-Iba, Ibadan. His grandfather was Sobaloju of Ibadan land, (a chief in the royal court of Ibadan). His uncle, Hon. N. A Ajimobi was minister of works and transport, in the Western Region. His father, Alhaji Gani Ajimobi, was a tailor and a councillor in Ibadan Municipal Council, in the Old Western Region.

Ajimobi studied Business Administration and Finance, at the State University of New York, in Buffalo, New York, United States of America. His MBA was in Operations Research and Marketing, with a concentration in Finance at Governors State University, University Park, Illinois. He was formerly the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, of National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company, a subsidiary of Shell Petroleum Nigeria.

In 2003, Ajimobi became a Senator, of the Republic of Nigeria. He served as the Deputy minority leader of the Senate.

In 2007, he contested for the gubernatorial election, under the umbrella of All Nigeria Peoples Party, but lost. In 2011, he contested again under Action Congress of Nigeria, and won. He was relected as Governor again, in 2015, under All Progressive Congress.

Ajimobi was elected All Progressive Congress Oyo South senatorial candidate, on September 2018. On 9th March 2019, Ajimobi lost the Oyo South senatorial district seat, to Peoples Democratic Party’s Kola Balogun.

On June 16, 2020, he was appointed, as the acting National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, by National Working Committee of the party.

With all these accomplishments to his pedigree, yet when death knocked on his door, his achievements and affluence could not save him.

Ajimobi had been hospitalized in Lagos, earlier in June, and there were reports that he was recuperating, but contrary reports, which emerged thereafter, suggested that his health continued to deteriorate, following COVID-19 complications. The news of his death on Thursday 25th June, has been confirmed by aides and some family members, as well as other older statemen.

See few pictures of his remains below:

No matter who you are, or where you come from, some day, you will give up the ghost. The only thing that will matter afterwards, is the impact you made in the lives of people around you, whether positive or negative.

Therefore, lead a live that people will remember. All the wealth, power and money will strive to get, are just a chasing of the wind. All is vanity.
