VON DG, Okechukwu speaks on Atiku’s attempt to reconcile with G-5 Governors

Mr Osita Okechukwu, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), has dismissed former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar’s, move to reconcile with Governor Nyesom Wike-led G-5 governors as belated.

Okechukwu said this in response to Atiku’s claim that the ruling APC is a fusion of Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Buhari’s Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and that it will collapse after losing the 2023 general elections, and that he will reconcile with the G-5 governors.

The APC chieftain described the Waziri Adamawa’s assertion as hallucination and medicine after death in a statement issued in Abuja titled, “Atiku’s attempt to reconcile with Wike-G-5 -Masquerade is belated by headwinds.”

According to him, it is absurd for the former Vice President, a veteran, to believe that the plank of the justice of rotation convention meted out to the PDP’s Constitution and the Federal Character principle of the 1999 Constitution will be easily swept under the rug.

On the possibility that Tinubu’s party, the APC, will lose the 2023 presidential election and collapse, Okechukwu remarked, “Is it not an express loss of memory for His Excellency, who was a member of the newPDP that joined in the formation of the APC, to attempt to rewrite history in pursuit of his presidential ambition?”

He argued that it would be unjust and unpatriotic to the southern part of the country for any northerner to consider taking over the country after President Muhammadu Buhari, a fellow northerner, finishes his term in May 2023.

“This is one of the major impediments to his puerile reconciliation with Wike-G-5-Masquerade.” Atiku is a major beneficiary of the 2018 rotation convention, which took place during the PDP’s presidential primary in Port Harcourt, which Wike hosted. It is axiomatic that he who comes to equity will do so with clean hands,” he added.
