In a recent press release, the Kogi State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vehemently distanced itself from the names purportedly ratified by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC to replace resigned national and zonal officers.

The state chapter declares this move as a clear breach of the party’s constitution and an act of destabilization.

Following the resignations of the Deputy National Publicity Secretary and Zonal Organising Secretary, Kogi State APC, under the leadership of Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, met to confirm and submit the names of their chosen replacements. The state chapter ratified Hon. Yahaya Ade Ismail as the new Deputy National Publicity Secretary and Hon. Isiaka Musa as the Zonal Organising Secretary for North Central. These replacements were officially communicated to the NWC through the North Central Zonal Chairman.

However, the Kogi State APC expresses its dismay at the NWC’s decision to introduce unfamiliar names as replacements without involving the state chapter or the North Central Zone. The NWC allegedly justified their actions by citing “Presidency interest.” This move has been rejected by the Kogi State APC, which remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the party’s constitution and due process.

Hon. Abdullahi Bello, the Chairman of Kogi State APC, has called on the NWC to rescind the unconstitutional appointments and revert to the list of replacements ratified by the state chapter. He emphasizes that the party’s unity and success are hinged on adhering to its constitution and maintaining the democratic process. The state chapter remains unwavering in its support for the APC and urges the NWC to reconsider its decision.

As the party prepares for the upcoming November 11 elections, Kogi State APC underscores its dedication to the APC’s principles and urges the NWC to prioritize the interests of the party, particularly in retaining the state’s stronghold status.

Stay tuned for further developments on this story.
