Abubakar Atiku, presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has hinted that he is already reaching out to Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike, saying that party stakeholders will soon reconcile with the aggrieved Rivers state governor.

In an interview with Track News on Friday, Atiku stated this.

“We are reaching out to Governor Wike and we are talking with him, and I believe very soon we will find a reconciliation,” the PDP presidential candidate said. In fact, we’ll be talking to him very soon.

“We’re speaking with his governor colleagues.”

“I am confident that we will resolve our internal crisis and move on,” he added.

Atiku, who described Wike as a powerful politician with a bright future in Nigerian politics, stated that he did not oppose the governor.

“The committee that was formed at my request deliberated,” he said. There was no vote, and they recommended three names because they knew I could choose any of the three. As a result, there was no vote. That is not correct.

“That committee was chaired by Governor Ortom himself.” He was aware that there had been no vote, and I had the committee’s report. I chose one of the three people recommended by the committee. I did not disregard that recommendation. So, I believe people should be fair to me and state the facts,” he added.

There had been uproar over Atiku’s choice of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowo as his running mate over Wike.

Following Atiku’s unveiling of Okowa, Wike was rumored to be considering joining the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Rivers State governor was recommended by the PDP selection committee after 13 of 17 members who attended a PDP stakeholders meeting voted in favor of Wike.

Wike received 237 votes in the PDP presidential primary, compared to 371 votes received by Atiku, who won the party ticket.

We’ll reconcile with Gov. Wike soon, says Atiku appeared first on Track News.
