Dino Melaye, a former Kogi West legislator, has praised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the recently concluded Osun governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

According to Track News , the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner of the June 16 governorship election on Sunday.

Adeleke defeated the incumbent governor of the state and the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, as well as thirteen other candidates to win the election.

The PDP candidate won 17 of the state’s local government areas, while Governor Oyetola won the remaining 13 local government areas.

Adeleke received 403,371 votes to win the election, while the incumbent governor received 375,027 votes to finish second.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Melaye stated that the PDP’s and its governorship candidate’s victory in the election was well-deserved.

According to the former lawmaker, the victory is a good omen for the opposition party and a sign of things to come for PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in 2023.

Melaye also congratulated Senator Adeleke on his victory and advised him to be magnanimous in victory in the interest of the people of the state, as well as to justify the trust placed in him through his election.

The PDP chieftain also congratulated the people of Osun State on the peaceful election, describing them as the true winners because they were able to freely choose their leader for the next four years.

“This is a good omen for our party and a sign of things to come in 2023,” he said.

“Our party’s victory in Osun State demonstrates ordinary Nigerians’ trust in the PDP’s ability to change the narrative and deliver good governance to all.”
