Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the Pan-Yoruba socio-political organization Afenifere, stated yesterday that the Yoruba body will support Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, in the 2023 election.

In an interview with Vanguard, the Afenifere leader stated that the decision to back Obi is based on equity and fairness, and that it will bring peace to the country.

“Yes, we have endorsed Peter Obi,” Adebanjo said. My reason for supporting him is that the presidency should go to the South-East based on equity and justice. That’s exactly what I’ve been saying. I haven’t changed my mind about it. If you want peace and tranquillity in this country, if you want it to be united, we must do the right thing and give the presidency to the South-East. I see no reason to change my position.”
