Wike, Betta Edu, 12 Others Screened, 14 More To Go

The immediate former governor of Rivers State, Nyesome Wike, the All Progressives Congress (APC) national women leader, Betta Edu (Cross River State), and 12 others were screened on Monday by the Senate.

TrackNews Media reports that there are still 14 others left from President Bola Tinubu‘s first batch of 28 ministerial nominees.

The screening commenced at the upper chamber during a plenary session that started around 12:41 pm upon the arrival of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Others who were screened included Abubakar Kyari from Borno State; Nkiruka Onyejeocha (Abia State); Bello Muhammad (Sokoto State); Sani Abubakar Danladi (Taraba State); and Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa State).

Others are Joseph Utsev (Benue State), Olubunmi Tunji Ojo (Ondo State), Uju Kennedy Ohaneye (Anambra State), Abubakar Momoh (Edo State), John Enoh (Cross River State), Iman Suleiman Ibrahim (Nasarawa State), and Yusuf Maitama Tuggar (Bauchi State).

This platform gathered that while some nominees were scrutinised, other former senators were asked to take a bow and excused.

The Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, motioned for the Senate to revert to plenary to report progress. After senators were screened. The Senate Minority Leader, Darlington Nwokocha, seconded the motion, and it was carried.

Akpabio then adjourned the plenary till Tuesday.
